At the end of the 16th century, a miller lived in the house with her 6 children. No servant could stand it here, because at night a cat always came with its 6 cubs and they scratched and gnawed the journeymen, so that many of them were killed.
Once a journeyman came into the mill who was a black artist. When he asked for a place to sleep, the miller said:
We'd like to do it to you, but it's not safe here.
Never mind, said the journeyman, I'm not afraid.
In the evening he lit a wax lamp, drew a circle with chalk and sat down at the table.
At midnight a black cat came to the light with its young and wanted to turn off the light. But the journeyman caught an ax and cut off one of the cat's paws. Then there was a shout of excitement and the animals ran out the door.
The next morning the miller's wife had a bandaged arm and the journeyman found a skeleton human hand instead of a cat's paw.
He reported the matter and the miller's wife was burned with her children, as they had once bewitched.
